web 2.huh

Until signing up for the Betty Blogger course I had never heard of the term Web 2.0 and had to Google the term. I am certainly aware of Facebook through my children and really saw it as a means for people to keep in touch. It wasn't until the Egyptian Revolution in January of this year that I had a huge AHA moment, awakening to the impact that social media can have in our lives.

I have always been a journaler- but old school- pen and paper. I will admit that technology intimidates me and have decided to face my fears and forge ahead. lol  The idea of a blog is actually very exciting as I have so much that I want to share!

  1. That "AHA" moment is always a scary feeling- to be honest, I still continue to have them, the more I learn about technology- which happens daily. The best we can do is take it all in stride, and at our own pace.
I hope you learn to love blogging, as a journal-er, I certainly do. It is a creative way to express your thoughts, and sometimes you can do it without anyone knowing who you are. People will still start to follow, its kinda cool to think someone, somewhere out there, likes reading my thoughts, and is interested in my life enough to keep coming back to read about it... cool!!

Happy Blogging, and just keep at it!!

  2. Hello,
I appreciated hearing from you and your reaction to the Last Child in the Woods video. I, too, hope that I have planted the seeds and by my personal choices each day (today's was a 16Km hike)I am continuing to plant those seeds of love and respect for nature and the outdoors. One of the most important points for me from that video is how we need to provide our youth with a positive outlook of hope for the future as they are bombarded each day with upsetting news reports. Being in nature can help with this. I was privileged to hear Richard Louv speak at the RBG about a month ago. I purchased two of his books and am encouraging my children to add these books to their summer reading lists.
Looking forward to reading more of your blogs and whatever other means of communication that LL has in store for us.
